Specially for the program BLISS, Benjamin de Murashkin composed his work I’m Nobody, Who Are You? The poems of 19th-century writer Emily Dickinson inspired him in his new composition for Duo Rozemond & Bekkers. With Dickinson’s texts, De Murashkin approaches the simplicity but also the fleeting nature of bliss with depth and humour. In this programme, Jacobien and Renée explore what brings happiness: being swept away by the exhilarating tango music of Piazzolla? Or do you achieve a higher state of bliss by transcending earthly pleasures and entering a trance-like state with Arvo Pärt’s Fratres or Ernest Bloch’s Prayer? Or perhaps in the interplay between dance and serenity in the Baroque music of Merula and Jacob van Eyck?
